Tutor is a proper teacher in my opinion. He explains things in full, behaves as though every student is a total beginner and does not expect you to already know. He provides methodic demonstrations in whatever area he thinks needs attention. For instance it was clear the lads and I were struggling with root runs in a butt joint, when Tom noticed he stopped us all and for a demo in which he made sure we knew why the root has to be done on a with lower settings, and why the cap can be done with higher settings.

He creates a relaxed environment that is more about understanding the why rather than the how. I believe he realises that its better to know why you’re turning a nob, not just what it does when you turn it. These things combined improved my welding exponentially, and I’ve finished my MIG week confident that I can manipulate welding variables in order to achieve a desired result. I came out proud and clear about my work, and understood not just that I HAD done a weld to requirement, but WHY I’d made it work.

Great facility in which to learn and great practical training from friendly and knowledgeable trainer.

Always enjoy coming to this centre. Tutor is a wealth of knowledge and makes everyone feel at ease.

All instructions given to me throughout the week were very clear and any questions I had were answered very quickly. Overall, I was very happy with my tutor over the week.
